DRUG RELATED OFFENCES

Drug Trafficking Charge - Prosecution Withdrawn

In November 2012, Australian national Emma Louise L’Aiguille was acquitted of drug trafficking charges in Malaysia, an offence carrying the mandatory death penalty. Ms L’Aiguille had been arrested in Kuala Lumpur in July 2012 after drugs were discovered in a vehicle she was driving.

The prosecution later withdrew the charge against Ms L’Aiguille, and the court entered an acquittal. Following the completion of related legal requirements, she returned to Australia.

Ms L'Aiguille was represented by lawyer Tania Scivetti as part of her defence team.
